Thrombus Formation in Centrifugal Pumps
نویسنده
چکیده
Three centrifugal flow pumps; the Biomedicus BP80, the Sarns Delphin and the Aries Lifestream 2100, were evaluated in vitro to determine each pump's individual tendencies for thrombus formation. Thrombogenic surfaces in the circuit were minimized by using heparin coated tubing and connectors. The centrifugal pumps, which were not heparin bonded, were placed in line in a circuit which consisted of a venous reservoir, a heat exchanger and a centrifugal pump. One trial wasperformedforeachofthethreepumpsby priming the circuits with approximately 500 ml of fresh heparinized bovine plasma. Protamine sulfate was titrated

Method of Evaluation of Efficiency Improvement Potential for District Heating Systems with Focus on Variable Speed Centrifugal Pumps
The goal of this research is the derivation of method for evaluation of efficiency improvement potential for district heating systems with focus on variable speed centrifugal pump. The effectiveness of the usage of the proportional pressure control is compared with the constant pressure control. This is why, energy calculation analyses have been realized for variable speed centrifugal pumps, an...
متن کاملImpeller and volute design and optimization of the centrifugal pump with low specific speed in order to extract performance curves
Now a day centrifugal pumps are vital components of industries. Certainly, one of the most important specifications of centrifugal pumps are the performance curves. In the present work, performance curves of a centrifugal pumps are obtained by Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and as an outcome, CFD results compare by practical curves. At the first step impeller and volute are designed with tw...
متن کاملTheoretical, Scientific and Practical Aspects of the Basic Stages of Cad Cam Designing of Centrifugal Pumps
Many theoretical and practical problems arise at different stages of the design/manufacturing process during development of a pump. The experience obtained in pump development proves that the quality of a pump depends on many factors, which should he satisfied to receive good results. At the same time, the theory of engineering design principles exists, which is applicable to designing various ...
متن کاملUsing Daily Plasma-Free Hemoglobin Levels for Diagnosis of Critical Pump Thrombus in Patients Undergoing ECMO or VAD Support.
Patients supported with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or short-term centrifugal ventricular assist devices (VADs) are at risk for potential elevation of plasma-free hemoglobin (pfHb) during treatment. The use of pfHb testing allows detection of subclinical events with avoidance of propagating injury. Among 146 patients undergoing ECMO and VAD from 2009 to 2014, five patients experi...
متن کاملDevelopment of Linguistic Rules Diagnosis of Failure in Centrifugal Pump for Use in Expert System
Operational failures in centrifuge pumps could be hydraulic or mechanical. However, most of these mechanical and hydraulic failures are connected cause of their operational nature and finding the right cause is due to considering numerous mechanical and hydraulic signs and parameters in pumps. On the other hand, due to non-linear and fluctuant behavior of pumps in the matter of time and not pre...
